Ahrens, A., & Zascerinska, J. (2012). Perspective of Game Theory in Education for Sustainable Development. https://files.eric.ed.gov/fulltext/ED531735.pdf
The article is a study to model the process of teaching and learning in an education setting. Ultimately, the study was looking for ways to improve the student’s learning by understanding how the interactions between teacher and student occurred, and applying game theory to shift those interactions to lead to the most positive outcome for everyone involved. The ultimate finding of the article was a table dividing the different participants in the classroom into educators, peers and students, and the different moves that could happen as teaching, peer-learning (working together) and learning (students reflecting on their work)
- This article provided a solid breakdown of the different stages of education in the classroom. It does a good job of breaking teaching down into the stages, and acknowledges that the teacher is providing information to the students who then need to work with the information to fully grasp it rather than just having the information given to them.
- The study also places a large emphasis on the importance of students working together and checking each other in the learning process. I knew it was helpful to some students with learning, and this research was initially inspired to help me improve how students would be able to work with each other.
